Free or Pro?

Both. PHP and HTML work on free. CSS, JS, and conditions need Pro. The setup check reports available types so your AI never picks one that does not exist on this install.

Is it safe to enable PHP snippets?

Your AI creates inactive by default, validates the body without executing it, and only flips active after you confirm. PHP fatals are caught by the plugin, but validation still runs first.

Why is my CSS snippet not rendering on Pro?

Most likely the Freemius license is not activated. The snippet saves correctly, but the front-end enqueue is gated by license status. Activate the license under Code Snippets to fix it.
