Upgrade PHP on WordPress: Novamira can check what breaks before you switch
October 21, 2026 · by the Novamira team
PHP has announced a security release that versions past end of life won’t receive, so it’s time to upgrade PHP on your WordPress site and find out what would break before you switch.
Sites stay on old PHP versions for a simple reason: nobody knows in advance which plugin or piece of custom code will stop working after the switch.
Check before you switch: with Novamira connected, ask your AI if your site is compatible with the PHP version you want to move to. It reads your plugins, your theme and your custom code, and tells you what is ready and what isn’t.
A fix for each problem: where a plugin already has a compatible update, the AI proposes the update. Where the problem hasn’t been solved yet, it proposes a change to the code. Nothing changes until you approve it.
Then switch: you change the PHP version from your hosting panel, and the AI can check right after that the site still works.
Still on PHP 7? Make a copy of your site running PHP 8, install Novamira on the copy and run the check there. Once the copy works, you know exactly what to change on the live site.
