Configuration

The Configuration page is where you turn Novamira on and connect your AI tool. In the WordPress admin, open Novamira > Configuration.

1. Enable AI Abilities

Novamira does nothing until you switch it on. Check Enable AI Abilities and confirm. Until then, no AI client can connect.

When enabled, connected AI clients can run PHP, use WP-CLI, query the database, and edit files on this site. For development and staging environments only. Always keep backups. A reminder stays in the WordPress admin bar while abilities are on.

Unchecking the box stops every connection immediately. Your sandbox files and settings are preserved.

2. Choose your AI tool

Configuration is built around your AI client, so you pick your tool first. Novamira supports a wide range of agents, from Claude Code and Codex CLI to Cursor, Antigravity, Gemini CLI, and many more (72 agents are covered by the Novamira CLI installer). The page then shows only the connection routes that actually work for the tool you chose, and explains plainly when a method or a cloud-only client cannot work in your environment.

3. Pick a connection route

Depending on the tool, you will see one or more of these routes:

  • Novamira CLI: the leanest route for coding agents in the terminal. See Novamira CLI.
  • OAuth: a browser sign-in approved from your WordPress login. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP clients.
  • Application Password: a local bridge that connects from where your AI client runs, instead of from the AI provider’s cloud.

If Novamira detects a host or security layer that may block direct connections from cloud AI clients (Kinsta, WP Engine, Hostinger, SiteGround, Pantheon, Cloudflare, and similar), it says so on this page. It recommends Application Password where appropriate, and for clients that only support OAuth it gives you a ready-to-send message you can forward to your host’s support. Full details in When your host or firewall blocks the connection.

4. Connect your AI client

Follow the per-client steps shown for your tool to finish the connection. Once connected, the client appears under Manage Connections (linked at the top of the page), where you can see each connection’s usage details and revoke it. If a connection does not work, use Not working? Open Troubleshoot at the top of the page. See Connection troubleshooting.

Next step

With abilities enabled and a route chosen, go to Connecting Your AI Client for the full per-client setup.
